Greetings everyone! As this is my first President’s Column, I would like to take this opportunity to talk about our outstanding volunteers and say thanks. The October issue of the BMW Owners News is our annual International Rally recap issue and in the photos you’ll see many of the hundreds of members who volunteered to make our 41st rally one of the best. Thank you to Rally Chair Deb Lower, Co-Chairs Jackie Mulhern and Rick Nelson and all the Committee Chairs/Co-Chairs for your efforts in planning and hosting a fine event. During the Closing Ceremonies, attendees that volunteered were asked to stand and be recognized. More than half of the people in the arena rose to tremendous cheers and applause. On behalf of everyone attending the rally thank you for giving of your time to volunteer!
During the Board of Directors meeting at the rally, David Grant’s term as Director expired. Board members are volunteers, and during the past three years David has given countless hours to the membership by attending Board meetings, participating in numerous conference calls each month and working on special projects. Thank you, David, for giving your time to make a difference. Your continuing efforts with the BMW Owners News
Motosafe column and our rider education programs are greatly appreciated.
Board member Greg Feeler’s term as President also expired at the July meeting. Greg served the past four-and-a-half years as President, during which time the BMW MOA finalized the corporate identity contract with BMW and hired a new Executive Director. Also during Greg’s tenure the BMW MOA’s continued support of the BMW MOA Foundation resulted in the growth of the Foundation and the expansion of the BMW MOA’s Rider Performance University rider education programs. Thank you, Greg, for all you have contributed to make our club better! At the July meeting Greg began a new three-year term on the Board and will no doubt continue to give his best efforts for the benefit of the BMW MOA. I look forward to working with the Board, Executive Director, BMW MOA staff and all of you as we move forward.
There are many other BMW MOA volunteers whose dedicated contributions throughout the year, in various capacities, continue to benefit all of our members. Thank you for giving your time—we appreciate your efforts.
Once again fall is upon us. The leaves in central Illinois are starting to turn bright colors, crops are being harvested and it’s a great time of the year to go for a ride. Visit the When and Where pages for the remaining 2013 rallies and activities, then, ride like the wind.
