Continental Tires has recently updated its Attack lineup of performance radial tires. The number one seller of motorcycle tires in Europe provides a premium product for an array of motorcycles and riding situations. The German tire maker has added the ContiSportAttack 2 to the fold, which will be OEM fitted to the 2013 BMW S1000RR along with the ContiAttack SM, which is was designed for street supermoto use.
Continental’s technology spans the entire line of tires, which utilizes zero degree steel belt construction, continuous compound technology (CTT) and their sticky secret sauce, Black Chili Compound. CTT is achieved by applying higher heat to the center of the tread during the vulcanization process to obtain a gradual transition from maximum grip on the edges in extreme lean angles to long lasting wear on the top of the tire for high mileage. The Black Chili tread compound provides a good cold grip and quick warm up. Traction Skin provides an extremely safe and short tire break-in. This is possible due to the revolutionary raw tread surface, which is the result of a new mold coating technology that eliminates the need for tire-release agents, getting you on the road safer will shorter scrub-in time.
Airhead and classic K-bike riders will finally be able to take advantage of this technology, as Continental has released the ContiRoadAttack 2 CR (Classic Race). These tires offer more grip, better feedback and lower temperatures on the rear wheel while racing. They also offer extraordinary light handling with outstanding grip curve stability, along with exceptional control of riding performance and optimal feedback in the limit range.
The ContiRoadAttack 2 caters to sport touring machines and improvements have been made using the aforementioned technology. I experienced enhancements in short braking distance, confidence in wet riding conditions and more stability in the corners. Their patented Dynamic-Ride-Technology improves handling and control of your bike by using patented steel cord construction and a unique contour.
GS riders should look forward to the new and improved dual sport Conti TrailAttack 2 rolling out to dealers in early 2013. Conti’s array of manufacturing technology in this tire will benefit on- and off-road traction and extend tire life. The TrailAttack 2 will be OEM fitment on the new 2013 BMW R1200GS.
