When you arrive…
… in St. Paul at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds for the 42nd Annual MOA International Rally, what do you expect to see? What questions will you have? Where will you go next?
When you arrive, you’ll see several “welcoming” and “registration” signs pointing to a large registration tent. After traveling five days or five hours, you’re probably hot and tired and will be looking for a temporary place to air-out and get some answers.
Once inside the registration area, you will be greeted by fellow riders who volunteered for this critical role. No matter who walks in, volunteers are ready to assist in checking you in, provide refreshment, give directions and answer any questions you have. You leave the area with an admission wrist band, rally book describing all events, times and locations, and knowledge of where to go next. This first interaction definitely sets the stage for a great rally experience.
What makes this work so well are 300 registration volunteers. Every year, many members again sign up to work in registration, with many more trying it for the first time. With up to 40 volunteers on a four-hour shift, many new friendships are likely. So please consider spending a little time in “registration” to meet and greet club members, friends and family as they arrive at the rally. We have so much fun that most people sign up for multiple shifts or sign up to volunteer as a club. You will be playing an active role contributing to the success of the Rally.
To volunteer for the registration function, go to our Eventbright.com website. For the second year we are using the Eventbright.com free ticketing website to help us organize registration volunteers and schedules. Each shift is described as a separate event; in order to sign up for a shift, you need to get a “ticket” for each shift that you want to work. You will receive an emailed “ticket” at the end of the process, which will be your confirmation that you are signed up for a shift. It takes less than five minutes. To volunteer, please visit this website: http://MOAregistrationVolunteer.eventbrite.com
There are two ways to sign up a group if your club wishes to work together: 1) select a day/shift, then spread the word to your members to sign up individually; or 2) email me with your club name, members’ names and email addresses. Don’t hesitate to contact any of our registration co-chairs if you have any questions. Our contact information is shown on the Eventbright.com website.
See you in St. Paul.
