The Ride for Kids®
The Ride for Kids is a motorcyclist's program that is helping find the cause and cure of pediatric brain tumors. It also serves as a educational support program for patients, their families, and the medical community. Mike and Dianne Traynor started the Ride for Kids® program in Atlanta, Ga., in 1984, when a friend's child was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After watching the tragic deaths of many children, they set out to help find the cause and cure of this childhood killer by soliciting help from their friends in the motorcycling community. XII International Rally of BMW motorcycles
Club BMW Motorrad Guadalajara in Mexico invites you to the XII International Rally of BMW Motorcycles in Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta from Oct 15th to Oct 19th, 2008! This rally is unique, in that two nights will be spent in the lovely historic city of Guadalajara, and the following two days in the world-class beach resort town of Puerto Vallarta. The previous annual Mexican rallies have not received much exposure outside of Mexico, or in the BMW ON magazine. But this year’s sponsor of the rally, the Club BMW Motorrad Guadalajara A.C., is making a special early effort to invite its’ friends from the frozen north to attend this “one of a kind” rally.
Consider this your first alert to a rally like nothing you will ever see in the USA, or for that matter anywhere else in the world!
Some of the exciting things that are planned:
• A chartered train and/or bus trip to/from Guadalajara to the city of Amatitlan (near Tequila) and the fiesta starts on the train and bus!!!
• In Amatitlan there will be tours through the distilleries and plenty of chances to sample the products. Lunch in Amatitlan will be “a muy grande fiesta”, complete with mariachis and all the trimmings.
• A 200 mile group ride from Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta through some wonderful jungle (all paved) roads.
• Staying at a world-class beach resort in Puerto Vallarta. Access to all water sports and a wonderful shrimp party right on the beach.
• And of course … someone will win a brand new BMW motorcycle.
The Club is still finalizing all its plans and we will have more details for you in the June issue of the BMW ON. We expect to have our website (www.bmwmotorradgdl.com.mx) with all the rally details up after April 1, 2008. You will be able to pay your entry fee ($275) by credit card through the secure website. In subsequent issues of the BMW ON and our website, we will help you make your plans to drive from the border to Guadalajara. We will have some tips for you to make the trip easier and to ease any concerns that you might have. So start making your plans and we will look forward to seeing you in Guadalajara in October! There is a limit of 600 entries.
