Rode about 40 miles to end at 64,466, just running around town doing errands. I picked up some shop supplies at Advance Auto Parts—shop rags, shop towels and a quart of Valvoline 20W50 “racing” oil, the only 20W50 they had available. It was fairly cheap, only $10. Total bill was $21.17. Surprised I guess because I almost never buy oil any more – all our cars are less than 20 years old for once (2008, 2013, 2016) in our collective lives and I don’t do the oil changes any more. Since my 2015 BMW is water-cooled, it has a wet clutch, which means it takes regular motorcycle oil just like the Indian FTR1200S does. So now I have a dry clutch bike again (dammit!), which means I need to keep car oil in the shed … but car oil technology has changed and it looked like the most popular version was 0W40 – that’s never going to do for a 50-year-old Airhead!

Got lunch from Sheetz – all this stuff fit in the side cases, which is nice, but I have to remember they’re cracked and therefore not waterproof. Tightened the fittings on the Halcyon bar-end mirrors; 5mm hex for the mount to the bar & 11mm wrench for the mirror adjusting bolt, which absolutely does come loose if it’s not tightened, making the mirror floppy and leaving me to wonder if it’s going to fall off some time!
