2025 CODDIWOMPLE CHALLENGES & RULES

2025 GRAND CODDIWOMPLE CHALLENGES

The Challenges are how you earn points. Please read the Rules and Challenge descriptions carefully! If you have questions, please read the FAQ at bmwmoa.org/coddiwomple, or email coddiwomple@bmwmoa.org. There is no one way to do this, so use the way which works best for you. Have fun!

Music Cities Challenge – 50 Points each, limited to 84 submissions.

Nashville is known as “Music City USA.” It’s world famous as the home of musicians, iconic music venues and sites integral to the history and workings of the music industry. But The Demented Instigator knows there are many other cities and towns across North America that have a place in music history. For this challenge submit your photographic proof of visit to the musically significant Sites and Places listed in Appendix M.

The Hee Haw Challenge – 50 points each. Unlimited submissions.

The Demented Instigator has decided that it is time for you to chase some … donkey. The Donkey is a noble creature, the mascot for the Hee Haw TV Show that brought Nashville music into the mainstream as well as a workhorse for carrying equipment for settlers and prospectors before wagons were widely available and affordable. Submit your photographic proof of visit to Sites containing statues or murals of Donkeys/Burros. Horses will not be accepted, and the submitter will be publicly shamed. Only one donkey per location.

Whole Lotta Shakin’ Going On Challenge – 50 points each. Unlimited submissions.

Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, is arguably the birthplace of rock and roll, country and rockabilly music. From its role in the career of Elvis Presley to recording the first rock-and-roll single (Jackie Brenston’s Rocket 88), Sun Studio and later Sun Records left an undeniable mark on the global music landscape. In honor of the accomplishments and history of Sam Phillips, the proprietor and founder of both Sun Studio and Sun Records, please submit photographic proof of visit to Places named or containing Phillips, Presley, Brenston, Parker, Perkins, Orbison, Feathers, Lewis, Justis, Twitty, Cash, King, Eaton, Turner, Roberts, Riley, Rhodes, Carroll, or Clement.

Starbucks and Friends Challenge – 50 points. Unlimited submissions.

Coffee, Coffee, Coffee!!! The Demented Instigator loves his roasted bean brew, and he wants a picture of your motorcycle in front of a Starbucks! Your mission is to submit your photographic proof of visit to coffee shops. You can only claim one named Store per Place. For example, you live in a city that has 4 Starbucks, a Dunkin Donuts and a Tim Horton’s. You may claim 1 Starbucks, Tim Horton’s and the Dunkin Donuts. That’s all. In the next town, you may claim all three (if they’re there) but again only one of each per town. Standalone locations only, not inside another store or a mall. City and State are required for this challenge. Commercial businesses are allowed for this challenge. Submissions must clearly show the name and building of a coffee-focused business that serves coffee, not a business that happens to sell coffee (ex. McDonalds).

The Bored BBQ Challenge – 50 Points each. Unlimited submissions.

The Demented Instigator has really gotten into brisket. Some nights you can catch him tending to the fire while the smoke cures it. Time to go eat some BBQ. A BBQ restaurant specializes in BBQ that is made on-site. Provide photographic proof of visit to a BBQ restaurant. The name of the restaurant must be present in the submission and in the comments of the submission. You can only claim one named Store per Place. If BBQ is not in the name of the restaurant, a photo of the menu or URL for the restaurant must be in comments. For this challenge, commercial businesses are accepted. You can only claim one named BBQ Restaurant per Place.

Chase that Chicken Challenge – 50 points each. Unlimited submissions.

MMMMMmm, Chicken! Fried, broasted, broiled, BBQed, paprikashed, or curried. Submit your photographic proof of visit to Sites with chicken statues. They must be whole chicken (No parts like thighs or drumsticks) bigger than your saddle bag (larger than life) and not towable or part of any mobile fixture. One chicken statue per location please.

Loose Cannon Challenge – 50 points each. Unlimited submissions.

The Demented Instigator loves cannons and field artillery, so when a cannon became available to buy on his local marketplace, he jumped at the chance! For your submissions to score for this challenge, you must submit a photographic proof of visit to Sites containing single barrel towable or fixed cannon or artillery piece. Anything with more than one barrel, self-propelled or mounted on something self-propelled will be soundly rejected and the submitter mocked by the judges. This challenge is limited to one per location or Site as stated in the rules. City and State must be included in the comments.

I’ve Been Everywhere Challenge – 50 points each. Unlimited submissions.

The Demented Instigator was totin’ his pack along the dusty Winnemucca road when it occurred to him that the Johnny Cash version of, I’ve Been Everywhere would be a great Coddiwomple challenge. To qualify, submit your photographic proof of visit to Places, National Parks or States that are listed below. The Places can be in any state (I.E. Nashville, MI or Nashville, TN) but only one claim per Place, Park or State. In the event that the place listed is just a state, a photographic proof of visit to the state border sign must be included. City and State must be in your submission, or it will be rejected. Let’s travel every road in this here land. Here’s the list of places named in the song as recorded by Johnny Cash: Winnemucca, Reno, Chicago, Fargo, Minnesota, Buffalo, Toronto, Winslow, Sarasota, Wichita, Tulsa, Ottawa, Oklahoma, Tampa, Panama, Mattawa, La Paloma, Bangor, Baltimore, Salvador, Amarillo, Tocopilla, Barranquilla, Padilla, Boston, Charleston, Dayton, Louisiana, Washington, Houston, Kingston, Texarkana, Monterey, Ferriday, Santa Fe, Tallapoosa, Glen Rock, Black Rock, Little Rock, Oskaloosa, Tennessee, Hennessey, Chicopee, Spirit Lake, Grand Lake, Devil’s Lake, Crater Lake, Louisville, Nashville, Knoxville, Ombabika, Schefferville, Jacksonville, Waterville, Costa Rica, Pittsfield, Springfield, Bakersfield, Shreveport, Hackensack, Cadillac, Fond du Lac, Davenport, Idaho, Jellico, Argentina, Diamantina, Pasadena, Catalina, Pittsburgh, Parkersburg, Gravelbourg, Colorado, Ellensburg, Rexburg, Vicksburg, El Dorado, Larimore, Atmore, Haverstraw, Chatanika, Chaska, Nebraska, Alaska, Opelika, Baraboo, Waterloo, Kalamazoo, Kansas City, Sioux City, Cedar City, Dodge City.
