BMW Motorrad announces 2026 R 1300 R

BMW Motorrad USA announced the new 2026 R 1300 R, returning for the new model year with more power and torque than previous models. New options will enable any rider to customize their R 1300 R to their heart’s content.

With a low center of gravity and plenty of torque, the liquid-cooled, boxer-engined roadster looks primed for commuting, touring or sport touring. Christof Lischka, Head of Development for BMW Motorrad, said, “With the new BMW R 1300 R, we’ve taken our dynamic roadster with boxer engine to a whole new level. Focused uncompromisingly on riding dynamics, it delivers a far sportier experience than its predecessor thanks to a completely redesigned engine and chassis, while still retaining core BMW values such as touring capability and comfort.”

The 1300cc engine produces 145 horsepower at the crank and delivers 110 pound-feet of torque. A new steel frame enhances rigidity, while a new aluminum rear subframe helps reduce weight. The stylish upside-down forks pair with a revised EVO Paralever II rear suspension for an excellent ride. The 47mm forks have Dynamic Suspension Adjustment, a first for production USD forks. Riding Assistant (Active Cruise Control and Frontal Collision Warning) is available for the first time on the roadsters as well. Standard features include riding modes, Engine Drag Torque Control, Integral ABS Pro and full LED lighting. The 2026 R 1300 R also comes standard with BMW Motorrad’s new Ultimate Care Break-In Service.

The standard color scheme is Snapper Rocks blue metallic; optional color schemes include Racing Blue metallic, Black Storm metallic (Option 719) and Light White. Other options include a Automatic Shift Assistant, muffler variations, M Lightweight battery, alarm system, comfort handlebars, Design Option wheels and GPS prep. A variety of accessories, including various heights of seats, will also be available.

Expect to see the 2026 R 1300 R in dealer showrooms in late Q3 or early Q4 of 2025. MSRP is expected to be $16,595, not including destination charges.
