From the Board

My love of motorcycles started as a teenager and has continued throughout my life. I graduated from St. John’s Military Academy. I married the love of my life, Rhonnie, and also joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1988. I served in Desert Storm aboard the USS Guam and after leaving the USMC I became a firefighter, rescue diver and EMT.

My life has focused around motorcycles and motorcyclists, which has given me a lot of experience working with a variety of people in various positions. Training and advocating for those that ride is my focus. My wife Rhonnie and I started attending and volunteering at BMW events more than 10 years ago and quickly realized BMW riders are OUR people! In 2023 we were the National Rally RV Chairs.

Since the role of the board is to represent its members, my years of experience as a Marine, firefighter, rescue diver, EMT, deputy sheriff, motor officer, crash team investigator, and crisis negotiator have prepared me well for this position. I will advocate for you and continue to do great things for the BMW MOA by appealing to the widest demographic possible.

I've been fortunate enough to work in the motorcycle industry for better than 25 years. The thought never crossed my mind when I threw a leg over a saddle for the first time that one day I would call this place home. My predecessor called it the best job in the world and he was right.

I'm thankful for the passion of MOA members and my teammates that serve the MOA. It makes every day special.

I joined the MOA in 2021 and was elected to the Board of Directors in 2024. I retired from my 29-year career in the Tampa, Florida, court system in 2023. Prior to that, I was an active-duty Marine. Retirement has been great and I’m really excited to be getting more involved in the MOA. I enjoyed traveling with my wife Tami to our second National Rally in Redmond in 2024, covering over 9,000 miles and visiting 17 states over 31 days. We visited family and friends along the way and met so many wonderful folks out on the road. We even recruited some new MOA members while we were at it! We love our BMWs, with my wife owning two (R 1200 GS & F 750 GS) and I’m on an R 1250 GSA. We also have a Ural sidecar, which our two rescue dogs enjoy taking rides in. I look forward to serving our members and ensuring we continue to grow the organization, retain current members and bring satisfaction to all.

Life is about stories and experiences, and all of my BMW’s, past and present, have gifted me with many stories over the years. Who we associate ourselves with often says a lot aboutus. I joined the BWM MOA to be associated with a group of riders who care about the experience as well as the brand.I’ve been riding motorcycles since I was 16, but didn’t fall in love with BMW’s until 2006 after riding my brothers R1100S BCR (which is now part of my collection). I started volunteering at rallies and eventually became a Regional Coordinator at the suggestion of the various dealerships around the country that I had been visiting while traveling.

Who and what we let into our lives can motivate us to choose certain pathways. My traveling Motorrad memories have been created on the likes of an ‘02 K1200RS, eight R1100’s over the years, a 2007 R1200S and R1200RT, a 1982 R100RS, an ‘05 K1200S and others. Every member of the MOA has a story, and the MOA provides a forum for all of us to live, learn, and share in our passion.

I have been involved with the BMW Motorcycle Owners Club of Minnesota, as a Board member and volunteer. I was recently appointed to the Board of MOA to fill the vacancy of Paul Di Marchi in December of 2022. I am thrilled to join the Board and I look forward to helping the MOA continue to grow and be a successful club, along with it’s Foundation in order to continue promoting safety and training that can enhance our experiences for another 50 years and beyond.

Adam Chandler is your MOA Vice President and member since 2016. He currently lives in Charlotte, NC but has lived in FL, AL, CA, VT and NH USA. He rides an R1200 GS, R 18, F 750 GS and a Husky 701. His passion is rider training and ensuring all members’ voices are represented at the board level so we can always be putting members first when making decisions. The health and prosperity of this club is his number one priority.

I discovered BMW motorcycles through my wife's family and quickly developed a passion for both the motorcycles and the community surrounding them. Over the years I've owned a 1993 K75S, a 2007 R1200GS Adventure that now belongs to my son, and today I ride a 2021 R1250GS Adventure. I joined the BMW MOA in 2020 while living in Virginia and became active with the BMW Motorrad Club of Washington, DC, eventually serving as Membership Chairman. My first MOA National Rally in Richmond reinforced what makes the organization special: a shared love of riding that quickly grows into lasting friendships.

After retiring from a 30-year career in the U.S. Army, my wife and I settled in Huntsville, Alabama, where I serve as Membership Chairman for the BMW Motorcycle Owners of Alabama. I believe the strength of the BMW MOA comes from its members, volunteers, and local clubs. I'm committed to helping strengthen those connections while ensuring the organization remains welcoming, relevant, and financially responsible. My goal is to help the MOA continue delivering meaningful value to members and foster a community that riders of all experience levels are proud to call home.

I ran to get my motorcycle endorsement when I turned 16 in 1982 and have been riding nearly year-round ever since. I bought my first BMW in 2018, joined the BMW MOA, and logged 32,015 miles that year, winning the mileage contest on my G 310 GS. I sell BMW motorcycles for BMW Motorcycles of Detroit, and riding is the ultimate passion for me. I currently own four BMWs, including my 2020 R 1250 GS, 2022 G 310 GS, 22 R9T Urban GS and 2024 R 12.

I moved to the United States from Canada in 2019 after meeting the love of my life at the BMW MOA Finger Lakes Rally. I have been the Social Media Chair for the BMW MOA National Rally for three years, I am a BMW MOA Ambassador, a BMW MOA Member Forces Recruiter and I am the President of the BMW Touring Club of Detroit (BMW MOA Chartered Club #1).

My job in BMW sales offers me a unique position to promote and encourage the BMW MOA to all prospective clients that walk in the dealership. My journey in the BMW MOA has been life-changing for me and I am so grateful to promote the BMW MOA and give back as much as I can. To quote Neil Peart: “The point of a journey is not to arrive—anything can happen.”

My wife Lydia and I live in Plano, Texas, where we raised four daughters who are now spread out from Washington to New Jersey. I grew up in North Texas and motorcycles were a big part of my childhood. My first “real” motorcycle, after the Sears minibike, was a 1976 Yamaha YZ125. Being nine years old and living in the country, this bike gave me freedom to join my friends exploring the local farmland of Collin County Texas.

The first street bike I rode was a 1975 BMW R75/6 my father bought from Carter’s BMW in Farmers Branch Texas in 1976. I was nine years old at the time and, nearly 500,000 miles later, the old Airhead is still my go-to ride when I need to escape the technology (no GPS, no Phone, no Music) and just ride.

I was around the MOA with my father when I was young and came back to the organization in 2015. Since then, I have been a Charter Club President, one of the early Regional Coordinators, a Regional Coordinator Leader, Rally Registration Chair (many times) and as of two years ago, a proud MOA Ambassador. I have flipped tortillas in the rain on a griddle at the San Antonio BMW Riders' Hill Country Hangout. I have had the honor of hosting BMW Getaways and partnering with MOA staff for an MOA-sponsored rally in Kerrville, Texas. I have worked with amazing people from the MOA Staff, MOA Volunteers, and the MOA Board over the years and look forward to being part of this amazing Board.

To the board, I bring 35+ years of experience in business and technology consulting working with business and technology leaders developing ways to utilize human and technology capital in partnership to meet requirements for today and lay foundations that will support organizations into the future. I hope to bring some of the lessons I have learned in my career to the MOA when looking at new ways to apply technology that will assist our staff and members as we continue to grow.

Bloomington, Indiana is where I call home. My wife Kelli and I share our home with four feisty dogs who keep this old man busy. The dogs enjoy adventuring with us in our tiny home on wheels – a small hybrid camper. I’m a graduate of Indiana University and I have worked at IU for the past 35 years.

I acquired my first BMW in 1986 which was a 1985 K100RS. My second bike was a 1998 K12RS. I put 400,000 miles on those two K bikes before purchasing my current 2015 R1200GSA. I joined the BMW MOA in 1988 and have missed only four national rallies. I have volunteered in numerous capacities through the years and was appointed as an ambassador in 2010. I co-chaired the 2011 BMW MOA National Rally and in 2012 I acted as President of the Hoosier Beemers Club. I was asked to serve on the BMW MOA Board of Directors in 2019 after Chad Warner stepped down.

Volunteers are the life blood of our organization. I have had a great time and met some of my best friends who are like family while volunteering with this organization. I strongly urge you to share your talents and time to help us grow and succeed. We need our members to get involved with their local clubs and with the BMW MOA.
