Just a ride up to Morton’s and back. No freeways. Met with James to discuss some video, MOA and podcast stuff.
Longest break from riding since my wife’s foot surgery recovery. The two of us went on a real vacation – no computers, no work – but in the car. We took a museum tour in a big look that included Chicago, St Louis, New Orleans and Atlanta. First stop was the Wheels Through Time motorcycle museum in Maggie Valley, N.C. Cool place. All US-made bikes and most (nearly all) are unrestored. They pride themselves on being able to start almost everything in there, so it was a very loud experience and started to smell of exhaust fumes after a little while. Cool if you’re into that, I guess. Wheels Through Time is the polar opposite of the Barber Museum, where almost everything is meticulously restored and so clean you could eat off it.
A friend is smuggling the Motobins carb books into the country for me later this month. Fun story, I guess, if it wasn’t so sad to even have to do it this way. Punchline is I got four copies so I can pass some on to other people.
Starting to cool off. I better get to riding!
