Summer means lots of riding, as many miles as you can pack on and increased exposure to road conditions and debris that could result in a punctured tire or torn tube. There’s lots of kits you can pack along to help; here’s a few to get you started on your plan.
Plexus Plastic Cleaner Protectant Polish
Plexus Plastic Cleaner Protectant Polish was originally developed for use on aircraft windshields. This makes it ideal for helmets, face shields, windshields, sunglasses and goggles. Plexus sports a special formula and leaves a lustrous, anti-static finish resistant to fingerprints and is suitable for all motorcycles, watercraft, snowmobiles and cars. Just spray on and wipe off—even on painted surfaces! Made in the USA. Costs $28 for a 7 oz can or $40 for 13 oz.
Muc-Off Visor Lens & Goggle Cleaner
Visor, Lens & Goggle Cleaner quickly and safely removes dirt, dust, grime, snow, sweat and oily residue from all helmets, eyewear and goggles. It’s formulated using de-ionized water (as recommended by many helmet manufacturers), so it’s safe to use on all lens materials including polycarbonate. Add in Muc-Off’s pH neutral soaps instead of solvents or harmful chemicals and it’s not only effective—it’s biodegradable! Muc-Off makes many other cleaning products as well. Costs $6 for 32 ml (about 1 oz).
National Cycle Shield Wash Windshield Cleaner
This stuff is strong enough to clean your windshield spotlessly, yet mild enough to use as needed. Safe for all motorcycle windshields, face shields, and goggles. Kit comes with a spray bottle and microfiber cloth. National Cycle recommends pairing this with their Rain Zip to up your windshield game no matter the weather. Made in the USA. Costs $35 for the 8 oz kit.
Bugslide Waterless Cleaner/Polisher/Bug Remover
Recently reviewed by the MOA’s own Mark Barnes in the October 2025 BMW Owners News, you can start with the 32 oz spray bottle ($36) and get this “multi-function, waterless, non-aerosol solution … to the accumulation of crusty bug guts and grungy grime,” as he wrote. Mark says it’s effective on pretty much everything but excess lube slung off your chain. Also available in a 64 oz size for $63 or a full gallon for $99.
S100 Special Surfaces Cleaner
One size only, but if you’re tired of dirty, dull plastics ruining the look of your bike, it’s the only size you need. This is a waterless spray-on, wipe off cleaner effective on fairings, helmets, visors, instruments and windshields in seconds. Bugs, rain spots and road film disappear instantly leaving nothing but a nice clear surface! Safe for use on polycarbonate and acrylics such as Lexan®, Lucite®, Plexiglas®, fiberglass, etc. Perfect to take along in the saddlebag. About $10 on Amazon for the 10.1 oz bottle.
