Errands, sort of. I waited too long to write this down, so I can’t quite remember all three of the things I did. I went to the doctor’s office first for an 0800 appointment. Everybody seemed chuffed I came on a motorcycle, nobody had any idea what the bike was because it was outside and we were inside. It was my “annual physical,” which just means they took blood and urine and asked a lot of probing questions like, “Do you ever feel depressed or like life isn’t worth living?” The nurse was quite young and seemed taken aback when I thoughtfully answered, “No more than usual.” “Are you in any pain right now?” “No more than usual.” She got visibly frustrated after a couple more answers like that and I finally said, “Hey, look, I’m not being obtuse. I’m 56 years old, I have arthritis in my knees that hurts all day, every day, and yeah, life is hard and nothing really seems to go my way, so I’m depressed a lot of the time. I’m aware of these things and managing them, so you don’t need to be alarmed. I’m just trying to answer your questions honestly.” That didn’t seem to make her feel any better.
I think I may have also gone to the bank, but I don’t remember – obviously it wasn’t for anything important. I put the title to the R 60/2 in the safe deposit box last week on a separate trip and emptied the cash out of my business checking account. I then stopped at Sheetz to get myself a late breakfast – not allowed to eat or drink after midnight when the doc needs blood.
