For many riders, the BMW MOA community is about more than motorcycles. It’s about the friendships we build along the way, the shared experiences on the road, and showing up for one another when life takes an unexpected turn. Right now, one of our own could use that support.

Brent Petrick, a BMW rider, photographer and motorcycle professional at Woodlands Premium Motorcycles in Texas, is recovering after suffering a severe heart attack and cardiac arrest in April, 2026.

Many MOA members may recognize Brent’s image “In the Dark,” which appeared as the “Tale Light” for the March 2025 issue of BMW Owners News. It reflects the same adventurous spirit that has defined much of his riding life. Brent has toured extensively across the United States, ridden to Alaska and built lasting friendships through the motorcycling community.

According to his family, Brent collapsed unexpectedly while at work on April 22. His heart attack progressed to cardiac arrest, and he underwent 35 minutes of CPR and extensive surgery. Thanks to the quick response of his coworkers, emergency personnel and the medical team at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands, he survived this life-threatening medical emergency and began an intensive recovery process.

Updates shared by his family show that Brent is now back home and steadily regaining strength after an extended hospital stay. Progress comes one day at a time as he rebuilds stamina and adjusts to life after a medical event that changed everything in an instant. The road ahead will still be long. Brent and his wife, Sara, are facing burdensome, ongoing medical expenses and the challenges that come with recovery.
