Traffic sucked, but at least I got lost

June start mileage: 66,132

Gas at 66,170 – 3.566 g E10 93 @ $3.559/g = $12.69. 121/3.566 = 33.4 mpg

Gas at 66,308 – 3.607 g E0 89 @ $3.739/g = $13.48. 138.3/3.607 = 38.3 mpg

End at 66,335 (203 miles)

Planned for a 300-mile day but it didn’t work out. Breakfast at Rise & Shine. Tried to cut through Richmond on US 360. Missed a turn, went in a circle, that’s what I get for not using the Beeline to try to preserve some battery power. Finally found 360 and … 14th Street Bridge is closed through today. Crossed the river on I 95. All of that took AN HOUR. Not knowing when my wife would be back from the Outer Banks (NC), I wanted to get home by 1400. Was going to get three things for the Virginia Grand Tour in a long loop that turned around west of Lynchburg. I cut off that far stop and got the other two.

Heading home from the second stop, I got lunch at Sheetz. The last 40 minutes before that, I was stuck behind five noisy-ass Harleys with their cruise controls set at exactly 55 mph where US 60 is two lanes total. Longest 40 minutes ever!

Had a nice chat with a rando at the Sheetz at US 60 and US 522. Riding a KTM Super Adventure R (with knobbies) but also has a Super Adventure S (no knobbies), both new 1290s. Must have $$$$$.

We saw one of those Yamaha Nikens. A lot bigger than I expected. Dude riding it must have had to pee—he was in and out of Sheetz so fast I couldn’t catch him to ask questions.

Beautiful day. Temps started chilly but I layered well. I’d be surprised if temps got to 75. Just lovely for riding.

Got all the parts for both bikes out of my trunk yesterday. Loaded stuff into two appropriately marked boxes. Took stuff to the dump. Have lots more to bring home. Might ask Kermit to help build/install some shelves in the shed. Really glad I kept the helmet box and the shipping box it came in—my wife is always saying I have too many boxes and she is 100% right, but occasionally I save exactly the right ones for over a year before finding a use for them.

Came across a sign for a Virginia town called Green Bay, went back and got a photo with the sign to send to somebody I know who lives in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Not sure he got the joke, it’s pretty random. At least I learned there’s a town in Virginia called Green Bay. It’s really small.
