Up and back to Morton’s for Vintage Day and a pretty weakly attended swap meet. Had breakfast with Kermit at Cracker Barrel. Turnout for the event was pretty good, maybe 25 bikes throughout the day. Several people I know including Chappie came (he was trying to offload a bunch of tank bags) on his lovely R 75/5 and Steve Johnson came on his excellent R 1100 S – not a TRUE vintage bike but almost 25 years old and not that many of them around. Met Mike Hemenway – the author/lawyer – from Charlottesville. Need to follow up with him for lunch to discuss publishing stuff. Oldest bike was an early 1950s R 51/3 in Dover white. 1951 or 1953, I forgot which.

Used the usual routes up and back – nothing magic going on there.

Presentation was too long, I need to trim it a bit. Maybe cut the riding section.

Nick Stokes – new VA airmarshal – won the suspenders for riding the oldest bike, or at least the one left by the end of the presentation. He showed me a cool set of O-ring helpers some dude in Pennsylvania makes to help with rebuilding carburetors. I’m hoping to track the dude down and get a set.

I think this is an R 26
